Yesterday at Apple’s Fall event they announced many different things, but one product that we think is pretty sexy is the new Mac Pro workstation. The one thing that is not sexy about it is the price, the unit will set you back a hefty $2999!
The design of the new Mac Pro is very cool as it is cylindrical. Inside it does pack some impressive hardware as well. The Mac Pro supports the latest Intel Xeon E5 processors, up to 64 GB of RAM, dual AMD FirePro graphics cards and up to 1TB of PCI-Express solid state drive storage. Apple says this setup gives the Mac Pro 7 teraflops of compute power. As far as connections go on the unit you have six Thunderbolt 2 ports, four USB 3.0 ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI. It will ship with OS X Mavericks.
Apple says the new Mac Pro is made in the United States and it is extremely quiet when in use. The $2999 model comes with a 3.7 GHz quad core Xeon processor, 12 GB of RAM, dual FirePro D300 graphics and a 256 GB solid state drive. The $3999 variant has a 6-core Xeon processor, dual FirePro D500s and 16 GB of RAM.
