Apacer Introduces The PT920 Commando PCIe NVMe SSD

Well this is an interesting design for a PCIe SSD isn’t it! Apacer’s new PT920 Commando PCI-Express solid state drive is designed to look like the top of a M4 or M16 assault rifle. Unfortunately this shroud is made of plastic and not metal, but it does look pretty cool none the less.

The Commando has an add-in card form factor with a PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface and takes advantage of the NVMe 1.2 protocol. The drive is available in 240GB and 480GB capacities. Apacer did not reveal which controller or NAND flash they are using but the advertised speeds are 2500 MB/s read and 1300 MB/s write for the 480 GB model, up to 860 MB/s sequential writes for the 240 GB model.

You’ll get the most common SSD features like ECC, NCQ, and TRIM. The drive is also backed by a 3-year warranty. No word yet on pricing.
