According to the latest report from Expreview AMD will follow up their Q1-2017 launch of socket AM4 Zen desktop processors and APUs with Zen-based mobile processors and APUs the following quarter (Q2-2017). These new mobile solutions could take advantage of the fact that the Zen CPUs and APUs completely integrate the platform core-logic (chipsets). Of course on the desktop side AMD will still be launching the A320, B350, and X370 chipsets to expand connectivity of the SoCs.
With many mobile designs making use of fewer USB 3.0, M.2, and SATA ports mobile designs with no chipset should be theoretically be possible. AMD could use this to their advantage to score design wins.
We will keep you updated as more information on mobile Zen designs becomes available!
