AMD Hawaii GPU Retail Sample Spotted in the Wild

We have confirmed that AMD will be unveiling their new Hawaii GPU at a press event on September 25th in Hawaii. That is more than a month away, but it seems that there are press samples of the card already circulating around. One has been possibly spotted on the Chiphell forums.

Now there is no actual evidence of a card here, but the photos do seem convincing. The picture you see above shows off the press box that the Hawaii GPU would be in. Below you see PCB diagrams which are also included in the box. These are just diagrams, not photos so that is why they are black and white. The user on the Chiphell forums mentions that the PCB makes use of a 6+1 phase PWM supply. The Radeon HD 7970 featured a 5+1 phase PWM supply. There is a blurred out section of the PCB which we are guessing is because of NDA.

The final photo you see below shows Battlefield 4 inside the box. This would confirm the rumors that the game would ship with the card.
