We had expected AMD’s Fiji-based dual-GPU graphics card to be launched some time this month or in January, but it looks like the card could now be pushed back for a Q2-2016 (April-June) launch. While AMD’s CEO Lisa Su said that card could launch as early as Christmas 2015, we know now that is not happening.
AMD has said they are preparing the launch of the dual-GPU Fiji card when HDMs (head-mounted displays) are commercially available. Of course we are talking about VR headsets, AMD says a later launch of the card will better align with the market. Of course AMD could be buying time to re-engineer the card with a non-Cooler Master cooling solution as they are in a legal battle with Asetek.
