AMD Announces the Radeon R9 270 Graphics Card

Due to intense competition in the sub-$200 market segment, everyone has been fired up to exploit the maximum of this portion, giving tough edges to their rivals. AMD has been devising a lot of strategies to enter this sub and its competitors have been answering in line but this time AMD has another new SKU which is going to help it heat up this segment of the market once again. AMD has finally announced the Radeon R9 270.

The Radeon R9 270 is quite similar to its sibling in many areas of specs and it is based on the 28 nm “Curacao” silicon. Similar to the Radeon R9 270X, the Radeon R9 270 is based on the 1,280 stream processor-count and has 80 TMUs and 32 ROPs. It has a GDDR5 memory of 2 GB which is spread across a 256-bit wide interface. The prominent difference is between the clock speeds; churning, it is 900 to 925 MHz core with the PowerTune Boost and 5.60 GHz memory (GDDR5-effective), at 179 GB/s of memory bandwidth. The 6-pin PCIe power connectors’ power up the card which is priced at $179.99 and the power consumption is not too high with the TDP rated at 170W.
