Amazon To Release New Tablets in October

While Amazon is of course most known for their massive online store I would say the next biggest thing they are known for is their tablets. The company is set to expand their tablet offerings next month with the Fire HD8, Fire HD10, the Fire, and the Fire Kids Edition.

Fire HD10

As you might have guessed the Fire HD8 and HD10 will have 8-inch and 10.1-inch displays respectively. Both devices will have metal backing and Gorilla glass. The HD8 will come with 8GB of storage and the HD10 will come with 16GB, both can be expanded via a microSD slot up to 128GB. The HD8 will be priced at $150 and the HD10 will be $230.

The Fire will have a slower 1.3 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 7-inch screen, but will only come in at $50. Finally there is the Fire Kids Edition which will be $99. A version of the Kids edition comes with a protective case and a 2-year no worry guarantee. This guarantee gives parents the option to send the device back even if their children throw it down a flight of stairs.

These new tablets will bring with them Fire OS5, which will have a few new features. The will be a new “FreeTime Unlimited” with the Fire Kids Edition. This will offer a selection of books, shows, and games that have been checked by child advocacy group Common Sense Media. Another new thing is “On Deck” which is designed to solve the problem when you are able to get on a plane and have forgot to download that TV show or Movie you wanted to watch. It will have your tablet download these things when the tablet is plugged in. Of course you can disable this feature.

Will you be picking up a new Fire Tablet next month?
