ADATA XPG SX930 240GB Solid State Drive Review

Final Thoughts
At the end of the day does this solid state drive stand out from the crowd? Not really, but most high performance 2.5-inch SATA solid state drives do not these days. In terms of performance the drive performed almost up to its advertised speeds, but did fall short in some of the tests. In ATTO Disk Benchmark the drive scored around 530 MB/s read and 460 MB/s write. This are obviously not the fastest speeds for a solid state drive, but not the slowest either, and definitely faster than your typical mechanical hard drive.

ADATA also brings a lot of value with this drive. The thing that really stands out in the 5-year warranty and the higher binned NAND. Many companies are only offering 3-year warranties on their drives these days. Also this drive comes with a 3.5-inch to 2.5-inch adapter as well as a 7mm to 9.5mm spacer, these are being left out by many companies as well. On top of that you do get a free copy of Acronis True Image HD too.

Right now ADATA is offering this drive in 120 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB versions. It would have been nice to see a 960 GB version too. The 240 GB version that we took a look at today is currently selling for 109.99 at our favorite online retailer. This makes it around $0.45 per GB, which is not bad, but we’ve seen drives at lower prices than that.

At the end of the day this is a good drive and definitely one you want to look at for a gaming build, especially with the 5-year warranty. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA XPG SX930 240GB Solid State Drive an 8 out of 10 score.
