ADATA XPG SX8000 PCIe M.2 Solid State Drive Review

Testing – HDTune Pro & ATTO
Keep in mind for testing the advertised speeds for this drive are 2400 MB/s read and 1000 MB/s write.

HD Tune Pro is one of the most popular hard drive software suites available. It has many different benchmarks and tests built into it. The benchmark that we mainly focus on is the file benchmark. It has two separate tests. The first tests a file size (500MB for our test) and gives you sequential read and write speeds. It also gives you IOPS for 4KB random single and 4K random multi. The second test in the File Benchmark is a file transfer test with different sized files.

Here we can see some good results, but the read speed definitely falls short of the advertised speeds.

ATTO Disk Benchmark also measures transfer rates across specific lengths. ATTO uses RAW data, our transfer sizes ranged from 0.5 to 8192kb. ATTO is usually our definitive benchmark for solid state drives.

Now these are some interesting results. As you can see the drive gets up pretty high around 1900 MB/s read and 1100 MB/s write and then the performance sort of drops off towards the end of the test. We will go into why in just a little bit.
