SP900 Overview
The Premier Pro SP900 looks much like any other 2.5-inch solid state drive that we have reviewed. It is black and has a nice brushed aluminum finish. On the front there is a sticker that lets us know that this is the 128GB version of the SP900.
Flipping the drive over there is another sticker on the back with all of the important information on it including your Acronis True Image HD Key. Just like all solid state drives you have power SATA power and data connections.
On each side of the drive you have 2 mounting holes as well as 4 mounting holes on the bottom of the drive.
Now to get inside! NOTE: Opening your drive will void your warranty. To get inside you remove the 4 small screws on the back of the drive and carefully pull the back off the drive. It will reveal the small PCB inside. When you first open the drive the PCB will actually be flipped over so all you see is 8 Micron flash chips.
If we flip the PCB over we can see the controller, the good old SandForce SF-2281VB1-SDC chip. Again, this is the same chip we have seen for the past year. We also have 8 more Micron flash chips.

NEVER BUY ADATA PRODUCTs
Absolutely, this drive is a joke. My second sp900 Died after 1 month of NORMAL usage. I had to return the first one, because it was very slow. I was absolutely sure that the chips are fake. The retailer didn’t believe me however. They replaced it with another sp900 with 5.0.7a firmware with signature not even present at the manufacturers list. To prove my theory (that the drive is not even close with the ones from reviews) I had to open it. The board circuit inside had nothing to do with the ones reviewed. I’m absolutely sure that A-DATA did a marketing trick with passing some good ones for reviews and flooding the marked after that with crappy ones that not even use micron chips! Stay away from that junk!
