A Quick Look At MSI’s G.U.S. External Graphics Card Enclosure

External graphics card enclosures might actually get heavily adopted this year. At CES 2017 MSI was showing off their G.U.S. (Graphics Upgrade System) external graphics card enclosure. This of course allows you to harness the power of a discrete graphics card with any device that has a Thunderbolt 3 port.

The MSI G.U.S. that was on display had a GeForce GTX 1080 inside. The G.U.S. can support pretty much and dual-slot graphics card. The unit itself has a pretty aggressive design and a window on the side that allows you to show off the graphics card you install inside.

The unit of course gets connected to your device via Thunderbolt 3. This connectivity also gives you four USB 3.0 ports, 3 at the rear (2x type-a, 1x type-c), and a single at the front which is a quick charge port. Inside the device is also a 500W 80PLUS gold rated power supply for your graphics card. No pricing or availability information was given.
