August 2010 in Review

August 2010 in Review

It looks like summer is coming to an end as we get into September. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by! The end of the summer for the hardware community means the busy season is about to start. Right around the middle of September many companies start releasing products for the holiday season. We are going to try our best to bring you all of those reviews! So August was a little slow month for us, mainly because I moved and was without internet for about a week. We only posted 13 posts in August, my favorite would definitely have to be the NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Steel Full Tower Chassis Review. It is by far one of the best cases NZXT has released. Read on to check out the rest of the stats from August!

ASUS SBC-06D1S-U External Slim Blu-ray Combo Drive Review

Last year we took a look at ASUS’s first external Blu-ray combo drive, the SBC-04D1S-U.  It was the perfect external combo drive for a laptop or desktop and received a perfect 10 out of 10 score in our testing.  ASUS has updated the SBC-04D1S-U with faster Blu-ray read speeds and a few other features.  They are calling this new combo drive the SBC-06D1S-U.  Let’s see if ASUS can make this drive any better than the previous drive we tested!

Samsung EX1 10-Megapixel Digital Camera Review

Samsung EX1 10-Megapixel Digital Camera Review

When people think of manufacturers who make compact digital cameras, few will probably think of Samsung. Though recently, it seems Samsung has been building more photographic equipment, and been doing a great job of it too. The latest compact digital camera from Samsung to reach the market is the EX1. With its compact metal body, an impressive F1.8-2.4 optical zoom lens capable of 24mm at the wide-angle and an articulated screen, it looks like Samsung is serious about their cameras.

NZXT Premium Cables Review

NZXT Premium Cables Review

So you’re building a new computer and you want to wire your case to look nice on the inside. NZXT has come out with some single braided cables for all your power needs and nice looks for your case. The single braided cables have started to become mainstream after a few modders started to make their own and sell them. So NZXT decided to make their own cable and bring them to the mainstream. As we all know NZXT has been making some great high end products. I am for one happy to see how these will work out, being an avid modder and custom case builder. With many of these cables to review let’s see what these cables are all about.

Corsair Force Series F120 120GB Solid State Drive Review

Corsair Force Series F120 120GB Solid State Drive Review

We first got our hands on a SandForce-based drive when Corsair was nice enough to send us their F100 solid state drive. We were very excited and anxious to see the performance boost from the traditional Indilinx Barefoot drives we had been reviewing for the past year. Recently we have seen many extended capacity drives, meaning there is less over-provisioning in order for a larger capacity drive. Many people think that 20GB is not that much extra space, but when it comes down to it, it really is. Also prices have dropped quite considerably in the past few months. At the time we reviewed the F100 it retailed for around $400 and now you can get the F120 for around $300! Let’s take a look at this drive!

July 2010 in Review

Wow August is almost over and we are only posting this now! The main reason for this is because I went on vacation and as soon as I got back I moved so the past few weeks have been quite hectic. Also internet took quite a while to get hooked up at the new place, but we are all hooked up and back in action! July was a little slower month for us as most summer month are, we only had 16 posts! Out of those 16 posts my favorite would have to be the Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 Full Tower Case Review. This is the first of Antec’s new Dark Fleet series of cases and it is definitely an awesome case!
