If you are a real gamer you know about the game “Borderlands”. And if you know about Borderlands then you know the New PRE-SEQUEL is coming soon. Well NVIDIA wants to get you playing it right and faster than anyone else with a new combo deal from NVIDIA.
The guys over at Coolaler have allegedly been able to get their hands on an upcoming Maxwell GM204 graphics card, from what they are saying it is the GeForce GTX 870. The GPU-Z screenshot that they provide cannot property identify the GPU, but it does read the cards name as “D17U-20″ featuring a GPU name “13C2″. The Device ID and BIOS fields are redacted so we cannot say for sure if this is genuine or not.
We have heard rumors about the GeForce GTX 880 launching in September and it looks like this is all but officially confirmed. In an interview with Expreview at the Chinajoy game developers conference a Gigabyte executive confirmed that NVIDIA will launch the next-generation GeForce GTX 880 in September.
According to VideoCardz, NVIDIA will officially announce the GeForce GTX 880 at some point in mid-September. NVIDIA will be planning a big event for all major press around the world. Expect to see a Maxwell presentation, new hardware and of course Jen-Hsun telling you to buy that new SHIELD Tablet.
According to multiple reports, NVIDIA is looking to unveil its GM204 graphics processor in the next two months. Cloudfire a user on the NotebookReview forums has gathered some information from notebook manufacturers regarding their future products. He has confirmed that NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980M Maxwell flagship will launch in October.
The alleged first benchmark of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 880 has appeared online recently. The benchmark in question is 3DMark and the score is quite high. We cannot verify the authenticity of the below screenshot, but it does not appear to be doctored.
Putting all of the rumors to rest NVIDIA today has launched the SHIELD Tablet along with the SHIELD wireless controller. The SHIELD tablet is first and foremost a high-performance tablet that is packed with exceptional features. Powered by the world’s most advanced mobile processor — the NVIDIA Tegra K1, with 192 GPU cores — SHIELD tablet is supplemented by regular, over-the-air software upgrades that bring new capabilities and levels of performance.
With rumors of NVIDIA working on a second Shield console, Shield tablet and even a Steam Machine competitor it seems one of those might be coming soon. A leaked image of what is said to be the Shield tablet has surface on the internet this week.
Valve has been working on their official Steam Machine, but the project has been delayed. We should expect to see the Steam Machine sometime in 2015. In the meantime it looks like NVIDIA is working on a direct competitor to the Steam Machine.
Given that this chip will be based on the existing 28 nm process this is going to be a big GPU, over 600 mm²! Since this GPU will be based on the Maxwell architecture thermal loads should not be that bad, but given its going to be a big chip we will just have to see. We could see the GM200-based GeForce GTX Titan II launch is the first half of 2015.
